ABOUT
I worked in the web interaction design & development industry from 1998-2013 with emphasis on empathetic and behavioral psychology-applied design for web, mobile web, and iOS applications (including a whole lot of project and program mgmt, and writing). After a couple of years as an independent mom, and a nasty spell of Life Burnout in parallel with the loss of my dad in 2012, I decided to completely re-design my life as if it were a product, using the tools gained from a 15-year design career making award-winning digital products and sharing my progress aloud through blogs, articles, and motivational conference talks.
By 2014, I was being booked to share my story at iOS/Dev/Design/Tech audiences on stages around the world, I was an active podcaster, podcast guest, featured writer, and professional experimentalist. I learned how to own my time and pour focus into working on things I love, with people I love working with, then teach others how to do the same through mentorship and leadership + executive coaching and advising. I made my biggest mark “Humanizing technology” by bridging the gap between humans and technology by working directly with tech teams and evolving interpersonal & communication skills, which translated through the products they made. Team/people development remains some of my most favorite work.
By practicing what I preach, I co-founded Picture This Clothing (PTC) with my now-husband Ken Finney. PTC started as an idea-baby, we launched our “MVP” via single Tweet from my personal Twitter account the morning of August 17, 2016, had a TechCrunch write-up by the end of the same day, followed by an eight-month-long viral bonanza!
Picture This Clothing did really well in its early years, then that darn global pandemic struck. 2020 seemed moderately optimistic and we rolled into 2021 with optimism, but after sinking tons of our savings into trying to revive it, we realized it was time to break it down to bare-bones and work on new stuff. So here I am!
I’m also mom to 2 human daughters, 6 rescue cats, and 1 rescue puppy.
I'm fueled by fun, Muppets, Disney, Apple-tech, and a heavy sprinkling of rebellion.
My life’s mission is to contribute positivity to the world and create tools that allow others to do the same.
